Customer service satisfaction

Customer service is the most  important aspect of hospitality industry. Organisations spends alot of time and energy on developing good customer service. when you enter a hotel or restaurant and you pay a substantial amount of money you expect to be treated with respect and dignity. for example as a leader one need to set an example to the junior staff, your body language can tell it all, open body language will welcome guests, slouching, scowling and sulking are negative body language that customer  will interpret as lack of enthusiasm and will think they are not wanted. A good smile, good body language portray sincerity, and reliability and even when things go wrong remain positive and professional.  Setting targets to the staff that are realistic and achievable improves the customer service and satisfaction, for example in a restaurant the time target for taking orders when the customer is seated is of importance, the longer the customer waits and they want to eat upsets and decline the customer expectation and satisfaction. setting a customer survey to find out how the service was and what needs to be improved is important, after all you may think you`ve  done a good job and the customer was not satisfied.
Team meetings are  important  for ensuring staff are fully aware of the standards expected from them at all time and encouraging any suggestions to improve the service. A satisfied customer will tell other people about a positive experience and encourage them of your service, but unsatisfied ones will tell the majority and so it is vital to get it right the first time and not to destroy the organisations reputation. In general customers expect high level of  care they receive. I am an African by origin and used to work in a five star hotel and in the whole of hospitality industries I've have visited in Africa, from pubs to restaurants, the service is first class compared to other European cities. The reason being from the budget hotels and restaurants to five star hotels u will feel so welcomed and you will like the service,as you will be shown to your table and served while you are seated. The reason being in Africa people are exploited and paid low wages, while in Europe the law states a minimum wage should be paid. I welcome any opinions or suggestions.
